When it comes to landscaping, pine straw is a popular choice for good reason, especially here in Georgia. At Mountain High Landscape Supply, we offer premium long needle pine straw, and it’s a favorite for its natural beauty and effectiveness.
Our premium pine straw comes from the longleaf pine tree, which is native to the southeastern United States. These trees produce long, slender needles up to 12 inches long, giving the pine straw a distinct look that adds a natural, rustic feel to your yard. We collect and bale these needles to provide a high-quality product that’s perfect for landscaping.
Aesthetics: The rich, reddish-brown color of pine straw provides a beautiful contrast against green plants and flowers.
Mulching Properties: Pine straw is an excellent mulch. It helps the soil retain moisture, regulates temperature, and suppresses weeds, which means less work for you.
Erosion Control: It works as a natural barrier on slopes, preventing soil from washing away during heavy rain.
Soil Health: As it breaks down, pine straw releases small amounts of acid into the soil, which is great for acid-loving plants like azaleas and hydrangeas.
Prepare the area: Start by clearing away any old mulch, weeds, or debris. A weed barrier fabric can also be a good idea for extra protection.
Spread it out: Unroll the bales and spread the needles evenly. A layer of about 2-3 inches is usually recommended.
Fluff for a fresh look: After spreading, use a rake to fluff the pine straw for a clean, even, and professional appearance.
Keep it fresh: Pine straw will break down over time, so plan to add a new layer every year or two to maintain its benefits and look.
Whether you’re in Marietta, Buckhead, Smyrna, Vinings, Roswell, Atlanta, Alpharetta, or Milton, Mountain High Landscape Supply is your go-to source for premium long needle pine straw. We offer convenient pickup, as well as delivery and installation services.
